Twitter

For Twitter I chose to follow a few of my English Education professors as well as Jim Burke who is the founder of a wonderful site called English Companion Ning. Both are constantly sharing ideas of their own and links to other places, articles and ideas that can further enhance my understanding and ideas of teaching.

Google Reader

On my Google Reader the most useful person/group I chose to follow English Companion Ning. It is a great resource for English teachers because it is a place where teachers can pose questions and receive answers and where teachers are constantly sharing new ideas and insights.

Love/Hate Relationship

My relationship with technology is an interesting thing. I really like it- and I see its purpose and its use, but I don't really know what to do with it. It frustrates me sometimes because I can't figure out how to use technology as well as I would like. I have e-mail and Facebook down, but other than that I'm kind of at a loss- even Google Reader intimidates me. I can't figure out how it's supposed to work, or what about it is supposed to be easy and convenient.
I guess that the thing I want to gain most from this class is a knowledge of the resources that are available to me as a teacher and how I can best implement them in my classroom.

Who is Jenny?

Well that is a mighty fine question. My name is Jenny Dunn and I am 22 years old and a senior in the English Teaching program. I grew up in upstate New York (Ithaca) but finished high school in Salem, UT and graduated as a Don from Spanish Fork High School.

I have one older sister and four younger brothers- my siblings range from ages 23-2. I love watching (not playing) sports- especially college football and basketball and I also enjoy watching tennis (and I have a rather large crush on Roger Federer). I also am an avid reader- which comes with the territory of being an English major. My favorite books are To Kill a Mockingbird, The Book Thief, The Giver and many, many more. I also love to travel and look forward to having the summers off as a teacher to explore different places and cultures.

I love The Beatles- the above picture is of me at the Paul McCartney concert this past summer. It was AMAZING! and totally worth the price of admission.
I will do my student teaching Winter semester at a Junior High in Payson and then graduate in April and I cannot wait!
